iPhone 1.1.1 to 1.1.2
If you have an iPhone with firmware 1.1.1 on it, I can really recommend this guide on how to upgrade it to 1.1.2. The guide is well written and it worked like a charm.
Joyeux Noël
What a year!
We have a beautiful bouncing baby, Freja, whom is now learning to crawl. My company (or at least the own where I owned 0.0001%), was bought by Google. Lina found a new job, my sister had a beautiful baby boy and everyone I know seems very happy and content.
2007 was a great year. I have rarely had so much fun, and I am enjoying life at max. 2008, can't wait to meet you head on!
Our home page is going to move to lachapelle.se and simply be a blogger page where we will update with some news and such.
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Slick RSS
I used the module called Slick RSS on http://www.canclub.org. This is a great module that I strongly recommend. I had a font issue, whereas the font was too small. I email David, the creator of Slick RSS and a short while later, he sent me a solution. I added the following to my Joomla template_css.css file:
newsfeed li {
font-size: 120%;
}
.newsfeed ul {
font-size: 120%;
}
That fixed it. Thank you David!

Joomla!
I am quite happy. I brought the www.canclub.org web site up to date with a Content Management System and even PayPal payments. I decided to use Joomla. All the add-on modules were quite simple to install.
The only manual hack I had to do was the "image" requirement for the registering, which I got here.
Overall I am quite happy with Joomla. Easy to install, easy to learn and easy to extend. The Joomla guys have worked hard and the result is mind bogglingly good. Open Source rules!

Wikipedia
I wrote (a full edit) my first Wikipedia entry. You can find it here.
I use wikipedia a lot and find the wealth of information in it fascinating. They are asking for funds at the moment, I donated 100 SEK, you should all do the same... important for our collective knowledge.

Next time I fly
I am going to try to book with Virgin Atlantic. It is about time that the airlines take inflight entertainment seriously!
And they use Multicast!

We are back!
Everyone is back home and safe, and we are lucky to have my sister Natasha visiting us this week. Yay!
Some Notes:
- After a lot of kernel panics in Mac OS X - Intel (especially when making the machine sleep) I decided to reinstall the OS, after testing the memory. Let's hope that this fixes the problem.
- Kindwalls, where I bought the Subaru, fixed the rear bumper after that weirdo driver pushed Lina on the highway last summer. They offer good service and deliver on what they promise, which is nice.
- A lot of snow here in Stockholm. Getting a 4 wheel drive Subaru Legacy was a great choice, it is like driving on rails. I know it is only a material object, but I like cars and I like our Subaru.
- Émil got to try his new Snow Racer he got from Kjell and Vailet. He loves it of course.
- Ultrasound of baby number 2 went well and we are counting the days!

Chevrolet LHR
As usual, I rented a car from holidayautos.com (which is great btw). The car is a Chevrolet HHR. The thing is quite bad. Weird engine nose at low speed. Bad visibility inside the car because of a very small windshield and rear window. Bad ventilation when you need defrosting the windshield. Well.. it looks kind of cool... and it is much better than the Monte Carlo POC I rented last time I was here. The Monte Carlo has the world's heaviest doors.

Jet Lag
After a first night's good sleep, jet lag has hit hard. Woke up at 03.40 this morning, which is 12.40 swedish time.
We had a nice dinner last night at Le Café Brioche in Palo Alto. Strongly recommend the restaurant. The leg of lamb was very tender and nice, if a bit on the big side... this is the USA after all :-)
First day at work today, wish me luck!

Shopping
Of course, with the dollar so low, being in the USA means shopping. Since my Sony noise cancelling headphones are old and my Shure E1 in ear headphones are awfully uncomfortable, I order the Panasonic RP-HC300 from buy.com
Since a lot of our media is online nowadays, I also bought a network hard drive to put all of our pictures and movies and such. I picked up the Buffalo Technology LinkStation Pro Gigabit 500GB which Magnus recommended.
I am looking forward to making my dream of an online connected house a reality. The last step will be an Apple "iTV"-like device that will read media from the hard disk.

United Airlines
I flew on United Airlines from Frankfurt to San Francisco. While I was happy I got some extra leg room for free in Economy Plus, the plane was an old 747 with no in-seat screens or power and bad quality projectors that made watching the movies impossible. United should really refresh the interiors.
British Airways's Economy Plus is much better, with only two seats (not three), more space and much better media capabilities (even in the normal economy). The problem with BA is that on the way home from SF, you miss the connection to Stockholm and only get home at around 18.00 which makes you lose a day.
Frankfurt was it's usual "worst-airport-in-the world" self. Bläää!

Photo Album
The photo album is offline for the moment. It will be back online shortly, with pictures from the summer and christmas.
In beautiful California
I am currently in beautiful California, staying at Robin and Stacy for the week while I work here. Lina and Émil are in Tulleråsen.
Some news:
=>We are expecting a bouncing baby in March! We decide to let nature surprise us to see if it is a boy or a girl.
=>We have moved to our new house, and we love it.

News update
We are moving the blog system to blogger.com, as I do not have time to mess around with movabletype. I will try to import all the old blog posts in here soon!
